motherboard
The motherboard is the heart of the computer and contains the main components of the computer's hardware such as the CPU, RAM and ROM. It is also used to add in extra cards and essentially ports to the computer. The motherboard is the main circuit board and uses buslines to transfer information from one device to another.
The motherboard doesn't affect how quick the computer is or what it can do, its purpose is to organise all the essential hardware of the computer to one collection, allowing the buslines to transfer information quickly from device to device.
