rom: read-only memory
The ROM (or Read-Only Memory) is a storage device used in electronic devices such as computers. The data from the ROM cannot be modified so it is mainly used to distribute firmware. Similar to the RAM, the ROM can also be easily upgraded or added to a computer that has an extra ROM slot on its motherboard. However, the difference is the ROM works even without power whereas the RAM requires power.
